Sheet metal fabrication company Hydram offers metal forming as one of many of its subcontract metal fabrication services. Working for a range of manufacturing industries in the UK and Europe, Hydram is one of the UK’s top sheet metal subcontractors. Hydram offers the full range of metal fabrication services from profiling, forming, welding and fabrication, and finishing, from its facility in County Durham.
Hydram’s CNC pressbrake service offers a precise, flexible and economical means of metal forming, whilst CNC panel bending is a suitable option for rectangular metal panel manufacturing in higher production volumes. Hydram also offers CNC tube bending to complement the tube laser cutting service.
Metal forming experts have 14 CNC pressbrakes for sheet metal forming and folding, which are rated up to 250 tonnes, and a maximum bend length of 4 metres.
Hydram uses a Salvagnini P4Xe panel bender for sheet metal folding rectangular metal panels. It can process panels up to a maximum of 2180 mm long and form bends up to 165 mm high.
With a CNC programmable bending machine from BLM, Hydram offers variable radii, variable axis programmable tube bending, with up to 52mm diameter steel tube and 2.5mm maximum wall thickness.
Hydram offers mechanical and NC controlled rolling of sheet metal components.

Understanding how the sheet metal forming process works can make it easier for design engineers to incorporate easy to manufacture components into their designs. Hydram provides designers with simple hints and tips to allow them to design sheet metal components that are easy to manufacture, and therefore cost effective, whilst maintaining maximum precision and quality.
The flat blanks required for sheet metal forming are made using profiling techniques such as plasma cutting, flame cutting, laser cutting or CNC punch pressing. Hydram can laser cut metal profiles up to 20 mm thick in mild steel, up to 12mm thick in stainless steel and 10mm in aluminium, with 3m x 1.5m sheet metal capacity. CNC punched profiles are available in thicknesses commonly up to 3mm in mild steel and aluminium, with 3m x 1.5m sheet metal capacity. Tube can also be laser cut, and Hydram can profile tube in thickness up to 6mm wall, with raw tube lengths up to 8.5m long.
Hydram Sheet Metalwork is one of the largest sheet metal fabrication companies in the UK, founded in 1977, and employing over 200 people in its 135,000 square foot facility in County Durham.
Since then, the sheet metal manufacturer has been supplying metal products, metal components and precision sheet metal fabrication services to a wide range of market leading companies in industry sectors such as rail, public transport, lighting, furniture, earth-moving machinery and white goods.
With customers in so many industries, Hydram has a broad range of experience and expertise to offer, particularly in sheet metal forming and other subcontract fabrication services, including metal profiling and welding.
