In June 2018 Hydram became part of the Dynamic Aerospace and Defense group with its headquarters in Michigan USA. Group company, Gem City Metal Technolgies, lists metal spinning amongst its capabilities in the US.

Group company Gem City Metal Technologies is located in Dayton, Ohio and lists Metal Spinning amongst its many capabilities. Craftsmen at Gem City have used hand-spining techniques since the 1950’s while fully automated “force–controlled” CNC machines also produce precision spun shapes programmed by trained engineers. This blend of technology, matched with experienced personnel, has established Gem City’s reputation in this industry and it remains a core competence.

Metal Spinning Description

Metal spinning, or spin forming, is a process by which a disc or tube of sheet metal is rotated at high speed and formed over an existing shape or former block by the application of localised force. Spinning can be performed by hand or by a CNC machine, not dissimilar to a lathe, although metal spinning does not involve removal of material, as in conventional wood or metal turning.
