Sheet metal fabrications company Hydram Sheet Metalwork has been accredited to the ISO 3834 Part 2 welding quality assurance standard. Working for a broad variety of industry and business sectors, Hydram’s partners have benefitted from association with an ISO 3834 accredited sheet metal supplier since 2016. From earth-moving vehicles to off-road equipment, Hydram’s customers can be assured that they are working with a responsible, professional, experienced, supply chain partner. Here, you can find out more about the background to Hydram’s achievement of ISO 3834.
Sheet metal subcontractor Hydram achieved ISO3834-2 in May 2016. ISO3834-2:2005 defines comprehensive quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials both in workshops and at field installation sites.
The certification covers the following products: ‘Precision sheet and tubular metalwork, fabrication, powder coating and assembly for a wide range of sectors, including: transport, earthmoving equipment, shop fitting and white goods.’
ISO 3834 is a quality management standard that outlines the requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials. It is applicable for welding both in the workshop and on-site, and is relevant to welding of all types of metallic materials. Rather than confirming the quality of the finished welded products through testing alone, ISO 3834 looks at the production process itself.
The certification process in volves an independent third-party auditor who evaluates the organisations welding quality management system against the requirement of ISO 3834. In Hydram’s case this third party is TWI Certification Ltd, under the Welding Fabricator Certification Scheme (WFCS).
To qualify for ISO 3834, companies must demonstrate that they have processes in place for welding procedure specifications, welder qualification, material control, inspection and testing, meeting best practice principles. By qualifying, suppliers provide assurance to customers that they have the necessary welding quality management processes in place to consistently produce high quality welded products. It also demonstrates a supplier’s commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
ISO 3834 is particularly relevant to industries that work in construction, manufacturing and engineering, where welding plays a crucial role in the production process. By achieving ISO 3834 certification, companies can differentiate themselves from competitors and demonstrate their commitment to quality. Hydram’s qualification is specific to Part 2 of the standard – sometimes designated ISO 3834-2, or simply ISO 3834 Part 2.
Hydram is certified to the following standards:
